Kusuda

"Delicious Syrah with an incredibly fine-grained texture and fruit purity.  The flavours are integrated and hard to define although I found layers of floral, berry, spice/black pepper/star anise and classy oak.  Best of all is the wine's seductive texture.  Should age magnificantly."  Bob Campbell - Five Stars 95/100

Hiro’s winemaking training from Geisenheim University coupled with the nobility of the grape possibly perhaps feeds his enthusaism for the wine. Unquestionably “fine wine” you could comfortably put this alongside some of the best Rieslings from Alsace in France,  Germany and Australia. As with all the current releases from Kusuda it has a very long future ahead of it.

In classic Kusuda style the fruit from this 20 year old, non irrigated vineyard on the famed Martinborough Terrace was very carefully hand picked and then again hand sorted before processing.  The fruit is very alive & fresh and the palate has a nice linear elegance, which perhaps is typical of Bordeaux varieties in their early phase.
