Ata Rangi Craighill Chardonnay 2009
Aromas of nectarine, white peach, and delicate grapefruit blossom provide a very promising first impression. The first taste delivers beyond expectations - note the very fine entry opening out to a silky, supple mid palate. From a slightly warmer vintage, the 2009 is more open and seductive as a younger wine but still has the classic length of finish that is the trademark of Craighall Chardonnay.
This highly regarded Chardonnay is produced predominantly from low-yielding, ‘hen & chicken’ berried Mendoza clone vines planted at Craighall Vineyard over 25 years ago. Indigenous yeasts that hang about the vineyard and winery all year round, magically transform the juice through a relatively slow onset of fermentation, resulting in a very textural, multi-faceted wine.
