Martinborough Vineyard

We are celebrating Martinborough Vineyard's 30th year!  The founding vineyard was planted after the results of a government report found Martinborough to be suited for production of high quality wines.  The report concluded that Martinborough had the closest climate analog to Burgundy in France, of which the famed grape varietal is  Pinot Noir.  Pinot Noir was planted 30 years ago and now these vines have reached a maturity which sees the fruit, on the best vintages, set aside for the a Reserve Pinot Noir.

In 2011 Martinborough Vineyard Reserve 1998 triumphed in a blind tasting in the United States.  The vintage was ranked number one in the 'World's Top 20 Pinot Noirs" rivaling a French Burgundy which retails for $7000.  We can now confidently claim that Martinborough Pinot Noir has longevity!

The Martinborough Vineyard wines are designed with the connoisseur in mind.  Also produced by Martinborough Vineyard is the Te Tera range, an accessible style with up front fruit, the Burnt Spur & Russian Jack are single vineyard wines from a the Burnt Spur vineyard situated 8km from the village square where the soils are typically Martinborough with 20-25cm of silt loam followed by subsoils of mottled clay and clay loam.
