Martinborough Vineyard Chardonnay 2010
"Our Martinborough Vineyard Chardonnay is a classic wine full of ripe grapefruit and roasted nut aromas with spicy oak and mineral notes intertwing on the nose. Careful use of oak has created a wine that is finely grained and focussed yet shows power and depth of flavour. Our winemaking style focuses on producing a well balanced Chardonnay that is rich and full bodied whilst remaining balanced and elegant."
This Chardonnay is made from some of Martinborough Vineyards oldest plantings on the Martinborough Terrace.
Winemaker Paul Mason's philosophy is 'as natural as we can get it'. In general, it starts in the vineyard where organic principals are applied, at harvest the grapes are hand picked, sorted again in the winery before processing. Only indigenous yeasts are used in the fermentation porcess. Aged in barrels on lees for 12 months, the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and regular lees stirring before bottling.
